Head of ”Derbend City” district Khizri Abakarov met with the chairman of the board of OJSC”Azerkhalcha”, head of the Carpet Department of ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Professor Vidadi Muradov.

The meeting discussed creation of an ethnographic center in Derbend, which will demonstrate a rare carpets. The experience of Azerbaijani carpet experts, architects and designers will be used in creation of the Center.

It was noted that, experts were created a collection of rare ancient carpets, woven in the end of 17th and up to the beginning of the 20th centuries in Derbend and adjacent areas. These carpets are currently being certified.

It should be noted that, in 2015–2016, by guidance of Professor Vidadi Muradov, the Dagestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences jointly with the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography were carried out the research project on “Derbend Carpet Weaving”, dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Derbend. As a result of the project, the monograph “Derbend Carpet Weaving” was published. In 2016, the scientist was awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of Dagestan".
