Nakhchivan Division discussed the results of the Plovdag expeditions

ANAS Nakhchivan Division held an event dedicated to the results of an archaeological expedition conducted in the Plovdag settlement, located on the territory of the Ordubad region.

During the event, chairman of the Division, academician Ismail Hajiyev said that, this year local and international expeditions carried out archaeological excavations in Nakhchivan and a new materials and cultural samples were discovered. Speaking on the archaeological expedition of Kharaba Gilan in Ordubad, the scientist noted that, the excavations were conducted by a leading researcher at the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology, Ph.D. in History Bahlul Ibrahimli.

Bahlul Ibrahimli informed on results of the archaeological expedition in the Bronze Age Plovdag settlement. The archaeological research has been conducted in Plovdag since 2004. The monument fully covers the Bronze Age. As a result of research, the remains of individual houses, auxiliary buildings, as well as a large number of stone tools, black and gray ceramic samples of the Bronze Age, etc. were discovered. Stone tools are typical materials for the Middle Bronze Age.

Director of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology, corresponding member of ANAS Fakhraddin Safarli, head of the Department of ancient archeology of the Institute, head of the Nakhchivan archaeological expedition, corresponding member of ANAS Veli Bakhshaliev and head of the archaeological service, member of the expedition, PhD in History Zeynab Guliyeva emphasized the importance of archaeological materials of the early Bronze Age discovered in Plovdag for the archeology of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan.
