70th anniversary of Professor Tofig Mustafazadeh, head of the History of International Relations Department of the Institute of History of ANAS, was celebrated.
Opening the meeting, director of the Institute of History, Academician Yagub Mahmudov noted that the outstanding scientist is the author of more than 220 scientific papers. Tofig Mustafazadeh for many years conducted research in the archives and libraries of Baku, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan, Istanbul. Yagub Mahmudov emphasized that the main areas of scientific activity of the outstanding scientist are relations between Azerbaijan and tsarist Russia and the Ottoman state and the study of Azerbaijani khanates: “Tofig Mustafazade’s research is not limited to studying our history. His research is multifaceted. On the one hand, he published books on general history, on the other he did the work of translating archival documents on the history of Azerbaijan into the Azerbaijani language. He also played a significant role in the training of highly qualified historian staff. He supervised over 20 doctors of philosophy and doctors of sciences.”
The book “The Armenian Question in History”, published in English, describes relied on irrefutable facts the emergence of the “Armenian question”, bringing it to the agenda of international diplomacy, the process of encouraging Armenians to armed uprising and terrorist acts.
It is noted that Tofig Mustafazadeh was awarded the State Prize of the Azerbaijan Republic (2012) and the honorary title “Honored Worker of Science” (2015) by the relevant Orders of President Ilham Aliyev.
At the end of the meeting, Tofig Mustafazade thanked the Academic Council of the institution for organizing the event.
