Anthropogenic factors cause landslide in Badamdar

Employees of the Institute of Geography named after acad. Hasan Aliyev, PhD in Geography Rafail Abdullayev and Sitara Tarikhazer examined the landslide zone in the village of Badamdar, Sabail district of the capital.

A landslide that occurred on 1.1 km of the Badamdar village road completely blocked the road. The employees set the dimensions of the displaced mass and noted that part of the earth mass 80-85 meters wide was mixed with a length of 100-120 m.

According to researchers, since the time of Tsarist Russia, heavy equipment used in oil fields was transported across the Badamdar-Bayil road. Recent soil activity in the vicinity of the road is the result of anthropogenic impact. With such activation, the influence of natural factors (precipitation, increase in groundwater level, etc.) is less likely.
