Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The ceremony of transferring books in foreign languages published by the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences took place at the M.F. Akhundov National Library.

According to the Institute, the event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Institute of History and the National Library.

Opening the event, director of the National Library Professor Karim Tahirov said that the library works closely with the Institute of History: books published at the Institute of History are presented annually to the library, which transfers them to the libraries of the world. “The Institute studies the history of Karabakh, Irevan, Nakhchivan, acts of genocide and lost lands, works reflecting historical reality are being prepared. The scientific institution keeps in the spotlight the publication and dissemination of scientific works in foreign languages,” said Karim Tahirov.

Speaking at the presentation, director of the Institute of History, academician Yagub Mahmudov noted that in recent years, on the initiative, appeals and instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, scientific institution has published about 500 scientific papers, including books in various languages of the world - Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Persian, Armenian and other languages. According to the academician, among the editions of the institution in foreign languages, the books “The Triumph of Heydar Aliyev’s Ideas”, “Azerbaijan: A Brief History of Statehood”, “Irevan Khanate: Russian Conquest and Relocation of Armenians to the Lands of Northern Azerbaijan”, “Genocide of the Turkic-Muslim population of Azerbaijan in 1918-1920”, “Pseudoscience of counterfeiters or“ history ”in Armenian”, brochures on the history of the Irevan Khanate and others.

Yagub Mahmudov emphasized that submitting the publications of the Institute of History to the National Library of Azerbaijan is very important for our country, because the library has good opportunities for delivering books to libraries in different countries of the world.

Scientists Nargiz Akhundova, Tofig Najafli, Aypara Rustamova and Shahin Fazil also spoke at the event.

Yagub Mahmudov was awarded the Academy Award for achievements in 2019, and the organization’s awards for his achievements in world science and education.
