“Weather Atlas of the Caspian Sea” published

“Weather Atlas of the Caspian Sea” by acad. Ramiz Mammadov, director of the Institute of Geography of ANAS named after acad. Hasan Aliyev was published.

Atlas divided into seven parts. In the “Introduction” is given a summary of the hydrometeorology of the Caspian Sea, the observation points located in the coastal zone and on the high seas, observations held here, and the frequency of the measurements. The second part, entitled “Geographic section” includes bathymetry, geomorphological maps.

Chapter titled as “Hydrology” gives the temperature distribution on the surface of the Caspian Sea by months, the annual average air temperature, absolute and relative humidity. This chapter also includes maps of the temporal and spatial distribution of hydrological elements such as salinity, transparency, flow and ice formation.

“Meteorology of the Caspian Sea” chapter informs about the temperature of the air above the sea, radiation and albedo mode, wind speed and direction.

The fifth chapter is devoted to the interaction of the sea and the atmosphere - the evaporation from the sea surface, heat exchange between the atmosphere and the sea, the heat capacity of the sea, advection, etc.

The sixth chapter describes the change in sea level.

Atlas is designed for professionals in the field of hydrometeorology, hydro physics and socio-economic conditions in the region of the Caspian Sea, as well as doctoral students and students studying in relevant fields.
