Studied the introduction and bioecological features of some essential oil plants on Absheron

Irada Mammadova, a senior researcher at the Institute of Dendrology of ANAS, conducted studies to disseminate some types of essential oil plants from the Rutaceae family on the Absheron Peninsula, their adaptation to local conditions, and the study of biological, environmental and decorative features. She studied seed reproduction, morphology, and seedling dynamics for the introduction and acclimatization of the species Ruta graveolens L and Poncirus trifoliata L. Rafin under Absheron conditions.

Studies were conducted on the experimental field of the Institute of Dendrology. Seeds collected from Absheron and brought from different regions of the country were sown in the soil in autumn in greenhouse conditions. The data on the transition characteristics of the main ontogenetic stages of seedlings of both species, the period from sowing to the formation of seedlings and the appearance of seedlings are analyzed.

As a result of the study, the seed germination rate of Ruta graveolens L was 50%, and the seed germination rate of Poncirus trifoliata L. Rafin was 20%. When studying the morphology of the seedlings, it was found that the hypothalamic part of Ruta graveolens L has a length of 4-5 cm. The leaves are greenish-gray, egg-shaped, up to 1 cm long. It was revealed that Poncirus trifoliata L. Rafin has a length of 30-32 cm, length leaves 2-2.5 cm, a width of 1-1.5 cm and a length of thorns 1-1.2 cm.

Both types of ornamental plants studied are widely used in landscape parks, gardens and fences. In addition, these species belonging to the genus Ruta are widely used in medicine in the treatment of a number of diseases, including gastritis, allergies, rheumatism, and also as painkillers.
