Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Deputy Director of the Institute of Geography of ANAS corresponding member Elbrus Alizadeh, PhDs in Geography Sevil Guliyeva and Irina Kuchinskaya were sent to Astana, Kazakhstan.

Attended by more than 120 professionals from Central Asia, China, Azerbaijan, Russia, Mongolia, Belarus and Ukraine, “Desertification in Central Asia: assessment, forecasting and management” international scientific-practical conference was organized under the auspices and participation of Kazakhstan National Geographic Society, Institute of Geography of the UN Development program.

Conservation and efficient use of the natural resources, desertification, climate change and anthropogenic loadings in terms of strengthening the prediction and management, environmental protection and sustainable development have been discussed in order to evaluate preventive measures.
