The paper of the senior researcher of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure of the Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS, PhD in Law, Associate Professor Aydin Aliyev, was published in the Russian journal "Socio-Political Sciences" and included in the scientific electronic library "Elibrary.ru".

The aim of Aydin Aliyev’s paper “The right to life: a comparative analysis of the relevant norms of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Russian Federation” is the study and comparative analysis of the content of constitutional norms that determine the right to life, identifying problems that may arise during their implementation. The paper discusses current issues of ensuring the right to life, proclaimed by Article 27 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic and Article 20 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

The author of the paper comes to the conclusion that after the abolition of the death penalty in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1998, parts 2 and 3 of Article 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the criminal legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan arose. To eliminate this discrepancy, the indicated constitutional norm needs to be amended accordingly.
