The House-Museum of Huseyn Javid of ANAS has organized an online scientific session on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the publication of the work of the outstanding poet and playwright Huseyn Javid “Uchurum” (“The Abyss”).

At the event, the director of the museum, Doctor of philological sciences Gulbeniz Babakhanli said that the purpose of the scientific session was to discuss the preparation of a new edition of the work "The Abyss". Talking about the history of writing, publishing and staging the play, G. Babakhanli emphasized that on the occasion of the 100th anniversary it is planned to publish the work in a separate book.

The director noted that the first stage in the work of Huseyn Javid was completed by writing and publishing the tragedy "Abyss". In this work, the plot of which was taken from life in Turkey, the classic described all the ugliness of artificial Europeanization and the inconsistency of foreign influences on national spirituality. G. Babakhanli emphasized that despite the fact that more than 100 years have passed, these topics do not lose their relevance today, and this is a clear evidence of the immortality of the works created by Huseyn Javid.

Then, the scientific secretary of the museum, Ilaha Novruzova, said that on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first edition of the work, the institution’s employees are working on an artistic and historical chronicle, which will be included in the new edition.
