Institute of Dendrology of ANAS has conducted research on some species belonging to the genus Magnolia.
Thus, the dissertator of the scientific institution Parvin Shikhaliyeva conducted research on some species of Magnolia, which are widely used in landscaping.
P.Shikhaliyeva said that one of these species widely used in landscaping is Magnolia liliiflora-Lily magnolia. The aim of the research is to propagate this species in Absheron by seeds and cuttings.
According to him, Magnolia is a shrub that leaves its leaves up to 4 meters high. This species differs from other species in morphological features. What attracts the most attention is its beautiful flowers due to their shape and color. Blooms in early spring, March-April. The flowers bear hamash fruits, the seeds are reddish-orange.
The study included Magnolia liliifloraL, which belongs to the genus Magnolia (Magnolia L.). Seed and cutting propagation, dynamic development of the species in Absheron conditions were studied and observations on phenological development phases were made in older specimens.
It was noted that research on the reproduction of lily magnolia by cuttings was carried out in the spring. The study found that newly planted pens need abundant watering. It is a species of Magnolia grandiflora L.-Magnolia. Magnolia grandiflora is propagated by seeds and cuttings. When propagated by seeds, the seeds should be sown in the spring as soon as they are collected or after 3-6 months of storage at a temperature of 4 degrees.
The researcher added that Liriodendron tulipifera, which belongs to the genus Liriodendron of the Magnolia family, is also one of the indispensable species in landscaping. Liriodendron tulipifera L with yellow flowers has been gradually adapted to Absheron conditions.
Parvin Shikhaliyeva said that the study also studied the reproduction of the tulip tree species by cuttings for the first time in Absheron. The species is grouped according to its decorative features - flowers, umbrellas, recommended for use in single and group plantings in parks and gardens, in the construction of various compositions.
