Despite the difficult situation in connection with the pandemic, the republic celebrates the next anniversary of the birth of the national press in the native language, which is a significant event in the national awakening of the Azerbaijani people and the history of public thought. Speaking about the history of the development of the national press, our people once again have a fair sense of pride, seeing what an exceptional role national journalism played in shaping the idea of enlightenment and independence, and the restoration and strengthening of state independence.

The Order of President Ilham Aliyev on the 145th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press states: “The Ekinchi newspaper, which the prominent intelligentsia and publicist enlightener Hasan bey Zardabi began to publish in Azerbaijani 145 years ago - July 22, 1875, went down in history as the first example of our national press and an important event in the socio-political life of Azerbaijan of that period. Having enriched itself with numerous publications in the following years, our national press made a significant contribution to the development of the Azerbaijani literary language and the educational movement, it belongs to great achievements in the formation of national identity and ideology of independence, the promotion of innovative ideas ... ”
