145 years ago, on July 22, 1875, the first issue of the "Ekinchi" newspaper was published, founded by one of the outstanding representatives of the enlightenment movement of his time Hasan bek Zardabi. Thus, the foundations of the national press in Azerbaijan were laid, the foundation of a true democratic and popular press in the Azerbaijani language, and its first issues became the herald of the people, the standard-bearer of Azerbaijani journalism.

On its difficult, thorny and at the same time rich and glorious path, the Azerbaijani press went through several stages - the time of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the period of the Soviet Union, then the most difficult stage of independence, the foundations of which were laid by the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, who always highly appreciated the influence of the press on society and who signed the first decree on the Azerbaijani press….
