Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Presidium of ANAS made decision on 80th anniversary of acad. Arif Mehdiyevin a meeting on November 19, 2014.

Taking into account his merits in development of informatics science in Azerbaijan will be solicited for the particular governmental bodies for awarding him with Honor Order of ANAS.

Noted that academician A .Mehdiyev was born in Baku December 19, 1934. After graduating from the Moscow Institute of Electrical Engineering in 1957, started working in the Institute of Physics. Became PhD in Physics-math in 1969, Dr. physics-math in 1984 and professor in 1987. In addition to the academic and scientific activity, has been engaged in pedagogical activity. Elected the professor of “Information-measuring and computing” chair, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy in 1980, heads for “Ecology and aerospace monitoring” chair National Aviation Academy since 2002. Elected active member of ANAS in 2001, worked as vice-president of the ANAS (2001-2007). Since 2002, is the chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He is an author of more than 300 scientific publications, including 50 patents. Supervised 20 PhDs and 7 Doctors.

He is the laureate of Azerbaijan Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the USSR, and State Prize of the USSR. Awarded with “Sharaf medal” in 1979 and “Shohrat” Order.
