Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Terrestrial Vertebrates of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, PhD in Biology Gulbaniz Gasimova and the head of the Zoological Museum, PhD in Biology Sabina Bunyatova made expeditions to Ismayilli, Gabala, Dashkesan, Gadabay regions and adjacent territories in July and August.

During the expedition, field research was carried out in accordance with the plan of scientific research. Among the species of amphibians listed in the "Red Book" of the Azerbaijan Republic, new distribution points of the Karelian newt and the Caucasian land frog have been identified in these regions. A number of common amphibian and reptile species are also recorded in the study areas. Reproductive characteristics were studied and biotopes of the encountered species were described.
