Finds related to the Kura-Araz culture were found in Shabran

From August 11 to September 9, 2020, Shabran archaeological expedition headed by the head of the Department of Education and International Relations of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Ph.D. in History Safar Ashurov, continued archaeological excavations at the Chaggalligtepe I monument located in the Aygunlu village of the Shabran region.

During the excavations, ceramic dishes related to the Kura-Araz culture, various tools made of bone and stone, two bronze pendants, a model of a clay wheel, a stone tokin (a figurine used for exchange, calculation, etc.) and one zoomorphic clay figure. The remains of buildings discovered during excavations this season differ in their characteristics from those found in previous years. For example, it is of great interest to find inside the dugout of places of 5 support shutters, two brick columns, as well as an entrance covered with adobe brick, originally conceived as a door from the back. The discovery of a circular house built with 19 rows of bricks in the northern part of the study area is also a great innovation. In addition, the sites of the hearth and household pits were discovered. One of the interesting facts is that as a result of clearing the central part of the excavation site, the pillars of a house with a very large diameter were discovered.

The found remains of buildings and samples of material culture date back to the end of the 4th millennium - the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC.
