Ancient monuments were discovered in Yardimli

The Yardimli archeological expedition led by the leading researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Ph.D. in History, Associate Professor Anar Agalarzadeh discovered new material samples during archeological excavations in the Late Bronze-Early Iron Age burial mounds in Alar and Arvana villages of the region.

According to the archeologist, the expedition continues to excavate the mounds discovered in 2014 in the Saribulag pastures of Alar village.

During the current year's research, fragments of stone tools, various bronze ornaments, and a spinner, which was used in weaving, were found next to mound.

Archaeological excavations in another mound revealed the altar. The discovery of various pottery fragments, hearth traces and coal remains at a depth of 1.6 meters on the altar reveals the fact that ritual religious rites were performed here, not human burials.

According to comparative analysis, these monuments date back to the Iron Age - BC. It belongs to VIII-VII centuries.

The expedition also recorded new Bronze-Early Iron Age monuments in the Darakechmez, Savash and Shahnishin pastures.
