Scientific support for the restoration of post-conflict areas in response to the calls of the President

An event on scientific support for the restoration of post-conflict areas was held at the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on November 6.

Opening the event, President of ANAS, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev recalled the decision of the Presidium on the establishment of the Karabakh Regional Scientific Department of ANAS, noting that relevant instructions were given to the scientific departments in this regard. Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev spoke about the importance of the book "Restoration of post-conflict areas of Azerbaijan: conceptual foundations" published in 2010 by Nazim Imanov, director of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, doctor of economic sciences, emphasizing the need to develop the author's research on the basis of modern facts.

The author of the book, Professor Nazim Imanov, made a presentation and informed the participants that the work was presented to the Azerbaijani and world community: "The book was presented in London - the House of Lords of the British Parliament, in Washington - the Institute of Central Asia and the Caucasus, in Brussels - the European Parliament, in Moscow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Russian State University for the Humanities." The director said that the surveys conducted among our compatriots displaced from Karabakh led to the identification of various directions. According to him, important areas of research are the establishment of life support systems, infrastructure, civil administration - institutions or departments under the ministries. At the same time, it organizes the rehabilitation of transport infrastructure, telecommunications, health, education, science and culture, as well as social facilities and vocational training centers. Speaking about the potential benefits of the Karabakh economy and the possible financial opportunities of the world economy in 30 years, Nazim Imanov stressed the interest of international financial institutions in this work: "Baltic countries and Iranian companies have already been officially requested to participate in the recovery process."

A number of members of the Presidium of ANAS also took part in the event and expressed their views and opinions.

At the end of the discussions, a decision was made to establish a Scientific Center for the Reconstruction of Post-Conflict Areas in Azerbaijan. President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev stressed the importance of close participation of members of the academy in this program, and considered it expedient to submit recommendations and projects in this direction.
