Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi of ANAS is constantly carrying out reforms to enrich our language. From 1929 to 2013, the company updated and published the spelling dictionary 6 times.

Professor Ismayil Mammadli, head of the Department of Applied Linguistics, Doctor of Philology, said that more than 2,000 new words have been added to the spelling dictionary to be published for the 7th time, and it is planned to have more than 100,000 words in total.

The dictionary was compiled on the principle of correct choice of modern and ancient Azerbaijani words, terms used in various fields, as well as in accordance with the "Spelling Norms of the Azerbaijani language" approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on April 16, 2019.
