The next meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was held on February 4.
The event was attended by the President of ANAS, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev and members of the Presidium.
Opening the meeting, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev brought the issues on the agenda of the meeting to the attention of the Presidium.
The first issue raised at the meeting was "Strategic Road Map of ANAS on the development of science for 2021-2025." The Strategic Road Map of ANAS, prepared to determine the strategic goals of the reforms implemented at ANAS and the priorities arising from them, was submitted for discussion to the Presidium. It was noted that in accordance with the state development strategy and national priorities, the organization and management of scientific activity on a new basis in front of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the main center of fundamental and applied scientific research in the country, modernization of scientific infrastructure, application of advanced technologies, evaluation of scientific activity , expansion of international scientific relations, integration of science, education and economy, acquisition and application of new scientific results, development of scientific and technical potential.
The next issue on the agenda was the problem councils of the Coordinating Council for Scientific Research in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Speaking on the issue, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Academician Adil Garibov recalled the decision of the Presidium dated January 28, 2021 and noted that the composition of problem councils was formed and submitted to the Presidium in connection with its implementation. Following the discussions, the composition of the problem councils of the Scientific Research Coordination Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was approved.
The issue of returning the non-residential building from the Affairs Office of the Presidium of ANAS to the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasiraddin Tusi was also considered at the meeting.
Then, the Action Plan of ANAS on the proclamation of 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" was submitted to the Presidium for discussion. The vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli informed about the activities envisaged in the Action Plan, and noted that a number of publications in this direction have already been prepared by the scientific institutions included in the departments of Humanities and Social Sciences. According to the final decision of the Presidium, the action plan was approved.
The next issue raised in terms of building the activities in the field of scientific and popular science publications at the level of modern requirements, which is one of the main goals of the reforms implemented at the Academy, was the establishment of the Editorial-Publishing Council of ANAS. As a result of discussions in this direction, it was decided to establish such a council.
The Department of Petroleum Geochemistry, which is part of the Institute of Oil and Gas of ANAS, was also included in the structure of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics.
In the end, a number of current issues were considered.
