Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On March 30, the ANAS High-Tech Park and the Korea Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) held the second online event on the project "Operational Program of the High-Tech Park in Azerbaijan: Application and Capacity Building", which will be implemented in 2022-2024.

The meeting, was held in the Knowledge Lab format, by attendance of  local experts and members of the beneficiary group from Azerbaijan, as well as project managers, coordinators and consultants from Korea. Dr. Soo J. Sohn, a well-known expert in the field of intellectual property and technology commercialization, a member of the Advisory Council on Science and Technology under the President of the Republic of Korea, a senior researcher at STEPI, Ph.D. in Economics, made a presentation on “Korean Technology Commercialization System”.

The lecturer spoke about the history, management, methodology, legislation, achievements in this area and recommendations for Azerbaijan on technology commercialization in Korea. She mentioned that since 2000, the Korean government has paid great attention to creating conditions for technology commercialization.

According to the opinion of Dr. Sohn,  South Korea's continuous innovation efforts and experience in this area, as well as the success in technology commercialization, have made the country one of the most innovative countries in a short period of time. Members of the project beneficiary group were also informed about the legal framework created to facilitate the commercialization of technologies. Very interesting discussions were realized around the lecture. 

Representatives from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Intellectual Property Agency, the University of Economics, Baku Engineering and Technology University and the private sector have participated at the event.
