Azerbaijan literature project of "Literaturnaya gazeta"

ANAS Institute of Literature and “Literaturnaya gazeta” newspaper, published in Russia, implemented a joint project. Four pages of the current issue of "Literaturnaya gazeta" (Literary newspaper), published in Moscow, were devoted to the folk poetry of Azerbaijan. Numerous examples of lyrical genres of folklore were given in the pages of the newspaper.

Note that, this is the second joint project between “Literaturnaya gazeta” and Institute of Literature. First project in April 2015, has been devoted to Azerbaijan Diaspora emerged in Russia. Being influential not only in Russia, but also in broadly Russian-speaking international audience,  for first time "Literaturnaya gazeta" publishes a special project with the Academy of Sciences of a concrete republic, especially with a separate research institute among the countries of the former Soviet Union.

The author of the project is the director of the Institute of Literature of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli.

The project submitted to the attention of newspaper’s readers by attachment titled "Azerbaijan - Pearl of Turan". Attachment begins with "The legacy of poetic folklore: Code of the national mentality" paper co-authored by Academician Isa Habibbeyli and writer-literary critic, PhD student of the Institute of Literature Abuzar Bagirov.

The paper describes the role of folklore in the creation of fiction, including the establishment of Azerbaijan's oral folk literature, about the stages of historical evolution.

The authors of the paper informs the reader of genres, themes, ideological directions of folklore and bring to the fore the role of folklore in the creation and formation of the written literature of Azerbaijan.

Samples of Azerbaijani oral poetry are presented with the translations by Vladimir Gafarov, Alla Akhundova, and Tatyana Strashneva.

In the future, "Literaturnaya gazeta" is going to release an attachment dedicated to classical and modern Azerbaijan literature.
