September 15, is celebrated as the "Day of Knowledge" in Azerbaijan. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to improve the quality of teaching in educational institutions and generally improve the education system on August 21, 2004. In accordance with the decrees "On establishment of the “Day of Knowledge" in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the regulation of work in all educational institutions”, lessons in all educational institutions of the country begin on 15 September and the date is declared "Day of Knowledge".

In recent years, Azerbaijani education system has entered a new stage of development. The attention of the President Ilham Aliyev, the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation are a great indicator of the successful continuation of the policy of the great leader in the field of education.

According to the order of the Minister of Education of AR Mikail Jabbarov in the "Day of Knowledge", the first lesson will be devoted to the theme of patriotism.

We note that in our country in the 2015-2016 academic year, over 150 thousand children will go to the first class.
