8th International Ataturk Conference of World Historians to be held in Azerbaijan for the first time

By joint organization of Institute of History and Republic of Turkey Ataturk Center for Studies, Ganja city will host 8th International Ataturk Conference of World Historians on October 13-16. Realizing under the auspices of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Turkey Rajab Tayyib Ardogan, international conference is dedicated to days of independence of both countries.

Conference will discuss urgent challenges of Azerbaijan and regional countries in the XIX-XX centuries.

Organizing committee of the conference includes head of Ataturk Center for Studies Mehmet Ali Beyhan, Acad. Akif Alizadeh, director of the Institute of History Yagub Mahmudov, professor at University of Istanbul Halil Bal, head of General Directorate of State Archives under Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Ugur Unal and other celebrities.

Azerbaijan scientists’ lectures have been dedicated to transforming Armenians to the Azerbaijani lands, genocide committed by Armenian fascism against our people, Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Khojaly genocide and other problems. More than 130 scholars and representatives from foreign countries will take part in the official opening and closing ceremonies which will be held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Ganja. 25 scientific lectures by Azerbaijani historians will be listened at the event.

On the last day of the conference, the participants will go to the city of Sheki, and pilgrimaged Yunus Imre’s grave in Gakh region.
