In his speech, he noted that further expansion of scientific cooperation between ANAS and CERN was made possible by an order signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1997.

According to the speaker, CERN was founded in 1954 by 12 member countries. Today, the number of participating countries has already reached 21. Until April, it is expected to sign a decree on the inclusion of Azerbaijan in CERN as an associate member.

N.Mammadov said that on September 10, 2008 was successfully implemented test launch of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). LHC is an accelerator of charged particles to accelerate protons and heavy ions, a device developed at the European Center for Nuclear Research. Noting the implementation of the upgrade of mechanical and electronic parts of the LHC currently, the speaker said that the completion of the first phase provided for in the years 2015-2018, and the second - until 2024. He stressed that in these two stages are required the participation of professionals working in various fields in Azerbaijan. Currently, as a result of discussions held by the Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences, is executed the process of selection and presentation of nominee at CERN.

Nazim Mammadov said that the established in ANAS, GRID system operates in a form integrated into the network of GRID CERN. Currently, as a result of cooperation with the Academy, according to the protocol of intentions signed with CERN, the Ministry of Communications and High-Tech of the AR creates the data center. He added that the Centre provides for the development of a very large amount of data recorded in the experiments at CERN. The speaker also said that there are serious problems associated with the lack of qualified personnel for the use of the system.

Reported the existence of an effective educational infrastructure at CERN, the reporter noted that college students organized summer schools for teachers of secondary schools - training courses, and for secondary school students - study tours. He also brought to the attention of those who present need for targeted activities of the Department of Science and Education of the Presidium of ANAS in this regard.

Considering the above, Presidium of ANAS has taken a number of decisions. It praised the cooperation outlined in the report "CERN ANAS collaboration: development and prospects" by Nazim Mammadov. It was stressed the importance of measures aimed at strengthening the activities of ANAS scientists at CERN, and to increase the number of scientists working there.

Academician-secretary of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Nazim Mammadov was requested to prepare and submit to the Bureau the proposals for an adequate analysis of orders, requiring the development and application of new technologies related to CERN.

Oversight the execution of the decision was entrusted to Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev.
