For the first time in the international offshore practice, employees of ANAS Institute of Control Systems offered a solution one of the actual problems of the Caspian region

In the journal "Current World Environment" article was published by head of lab ”Environmental Modeling” of the Institute of Control Systems R.A Karayev and employees of lab - N.Y Sadikhova and Kh.F Imamverdiyeva. Title of the article is "Knowledge-Based System for Environmental Monitoring of Contract Areas in the Caspian Sea". Article proposes the statement and method of solving the problem of differentiation of anthropogenic impact of the operator of Contract Area and extraneous impacts caused by external pollution sources.

External sources can be: the neighboring oil and gas development, municipal, industrial and agricultural wastes, mud volcanoes, dumping. The problem is extremely urgent in connection with the collapse of the USSR, large scale increase of oil and gas extraction on the Caspian shelf (“third oil bum”), closed regime of the Caspian Sea, the complex geopolitical situation in the region. Problem has no analogues in the international offshore practice.

"Current World Environment" is one of the leading environmental journals and indexed in the following international scientific databases: Thomson Reuters (USA), SCOPUS, Chemical Abstracts (USA), Index Copernicus, Zoological Record, Academic Journals Database, University of Texas Libraries, Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research, German National Serials Database, University of Saskatchewan (Canada), International Scientific Indexing (ISI), Open Science Directory, Lancaster University Library etc.

Article “Knowledge-Based System for Environmental Monitoring of Contract Areas in the Caspian Sea” has been posted on the website of WorldWideScience.org (caspian sea: Topics by WorldWideScience.org), which is supported by the Department of Scientific and Technical Information of the Ministry of Energy of the United States as an operational agent WorldWideScienceAlliance.
