ANAS President Academician Akif Alizadeh met with first deputy chief editor of the Russian newspaper "Poisk (Search)", Elizabeth Ponarin.

Speaking about the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijani-Russian scientific ties, the head of ANAS stressed the need to establish and enhance cooperation between newspapers, "Poisk (Search)" and "Elm (Science)" in order to better publicize and inform the world public about the innovations in science and joint research.

Guest, in turn thanked for the invitation to academician for commemorative event - 70th anniversary of ANAS, shared her impressions and appreciated the hospitality extended to her. Then Ms. Ponarina told the audience about the newspaper "Poisk" and other Russian media who cover scientific activities.

E.Ponarina noted that the newspaper "Poisk" is published for people involved in research and teaching activities, and management professionals in the field of science and education. The founders of the newspaper are the Russian Academy of Sciences and the publishing house "Search". The newspaper publishes news of research institutes and universities, which operate in Russia and in many other countries, the materials about the actual problems of fundamental and applied sciences, education, opinion authority figures, scientists and professionals working in these areas, as well as information on research collectives.

During the meeting the sides discussed prospects of cooperation between the newspapers, "Elm" and "Poisk". By mutual agreement of the parties, in the newspaper "Poisk" will periodically publish news, articles, interviews and reports on the research activities of scientists of Azerbaijan, and in the newspaper "Elm" - news of the scientific activities of Russian scientists.

E. Ponarina put forward a proposal to organize a meeting of Azerbaijani scientists participating in various international conferences and events, which will be held in Russia, with the correspondents of the newspaper "Poisk", and to cooperate in order to study the experience in the exchange of news and scientific development of scientific information. She noted that one of the components that ensure the popularization of scientific creativity is the exchange of information, and this factor must necessarily be used.

Stressing the importance of the meeting in terms of the wider coverage of the scientific activities of Russian scientists on an international scale and the creation of new opportunities for cooperation in this field, Academician Akif Alizadeh expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the newspaper "Poisk" for the attention and support given to the Academy and Azerbaijani science in her face.

Expressing his satisfaction with the meeting, Ms. Ponarina, in turn, thanked the leadership of ANAS for the cordial welcome.

Then the guests got acquainted with the publications reflecting the major scientific results in academic institutions and organizations.

The meeting was attended by the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, Head of the Department of Education and Science of ANAS Presidium Administration PhD Aminaga Sadigov and Head of International Relations Department, PhD in geological-mineralogical sciences Gulam Babayev.
