ANAS Institute of Information Technology expands ties of cooperation with Europe

The delegation of the Institute of Information Technology  of ANAS represented Azerbaijan by a number of international events held in late November in Luxembourg. Academician-secretary of ANAS Rasim Alguliyev, as well as heads of departments of the same institute - doctor of technical sciences Ramiz Aliguliyev and PhD in engineering Vugar Musayev took part in the General Assembly of the Association of GEANT, the project Eapconnect meetings and group workshops of electronic research infrastructures in Europe (e- IRG: Electronic Research Infrastructures Reflection Group). All the events were held in the new campus of the University of Luxembourg, at the invitation of the Scientific and Educational Network. During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation gave extensive interviews to the journal of Primeur, illuminating innovations in the field of supercomputing, due to the current state and prospects of development of e-science in Azerbaijan.

Project EaPConnect

The issue of connecting "Eastern Partnership"countries, including Azerbaijan to the network GEANT was discussed in the assemblies. And it was decided to complete the work carried out to establish a network EaPConnect in the beginning of 2016, and the accession AzScienceNet employees to training, to be conducted by the GEANT.

The General Assembly GEANT

At the meetings of the General Assembly, GEANT, elections were held to elect the president of GEANT and determine the composition of the Board of Directors adopted the technical program, and scientific and Educational Network of Ukraine was elected a member of GEANT. President of the Assembly was elected Christian Grimm and his deputy - Pierre Bruerieni.

e-IRG: Group electron research infrastructures in Europe

At the workshop, conducted by a group of electronic and scientific infrastructures in Europe were discussed issues regarding the joint application of the European e-Infrastructures with the organizational support of the e-IRG. They also listened to the recommendations and suggestions on the issue.

It should be noted that the Group of electronically scientific infrastructures in Europe is an independent structure organized by the European Commission and the official representatives of member countries, which since 2003 has been engaged in the discussion of strategic issues for the development of e-infrastructures in the field of science and education, defining priorities for the European Commission and countries -members, makes recommendations and maps of the joint path.
