Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The results of the Competition Commission on selection of a logo (emblem) of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and an issue on approval of the logo of ANAS were discussed at the following meeting of Presidium of ANAS.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli, president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences pointed out that it is necessary to change the logo (emblem) in order to form and promote the new corporate image of ANAS. He said that the new logo will correspond to the history of the Academy, the recent changes in its activities and the requirements of the modern information society. The academician underlined that the Competition Commission has been established for selecting the logo (emblem) of ANAS and solution of other necessary issues and the commission was tasked to hold the competition for defining a new logo (emblem) of ANAS, to determine and award the winner and to approve the selected logo (emblem) according to the the relevant legislation.   

Isa Habibbeyli said that necessary works have been recently done in this direction, wide discussions have been held for defining the new logo of ANAS, and projects of the logos (emblem) have been demonstrated to the wide scientific community.    

He said that the Competition Commission introduced the generalized logo of Shalala Rustamova, head designer of “Science” publishing house of ANAS to the Presidium of ANAS for discussion for final assessment.

Shalala Rustamova designed a “building” symbol in her generalized project, Rizvan Babashov, docent, leading researcher of Institute of Architecture and Art designed a “globus” symbol, Oksana Mammadova junior scientific worker of Institute of Architecture and Art designed a “book” symbol, Roya Mirzabayov, scientific worker of the Institute of Middle Eastern studies is the author of “fire” symbol, Minaya Feyzullayeva, junior scientific worker of Institute of Archeology and Antropology designed a “flag” symbol and Solmaz Namazova, scientific worker of the Institute of Middle Eastern studies designed the word “ANAS” in her project. 

The project of Minaya Feyzullayeva, junior scientific worker of Institute of Archeology and Antropology was presented to the attention of Presidium as a design with the best artistic description.

People's Artist of Azerbaijan, member of the Competition Commission, chairman of the Union of Artists Farhad Khalilov expressed his opinion about the projects and mentioned that he has got acquainted with all them and the logo (emblem), which was introduced to the Presidium of ANAS for last discussion, meets the modern standards and highly appreciated the competition.

Afterwards the presented works were accepted by Presidium of ANAS and the authors of the projects and participants were awarded with the letters of gratitude, honorary certificates and cash prizes.
