Notable scientist, chancellor of Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, corresponding member of ANAS Ibrahim Jafarov is 60 years old.

Ibrahim Jafarov was born in Dudenge village, Sherur region of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in January 20, 1956. Graduated from Azerbaijan Institute of Agriculture on behalf S.Agamalioglu in 1985 with diploma of honor.

In 1989 defended PhD thesis, while in 2006 doctoral thesis, also gained title of Professor in 2010 and elected corresponding member of ANAS in 2014.

I.Jafarov worked as an assistant (1989), associate professor (1994), and Professor (2011) at the Department of Phytopathology and the immune system of plants at the Institute of Agriculture, acted as the dean of the Azerbaijan Academy of Agriculture, Department of Fruit-vegetable growing and viticulture (1993-2002), as well as Vice Chancellor of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University for academic affairs (2009-2013).

By the Order of the President of AR dated July 25, 2013, he was defined a chancellor to the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University.

Since at the end of the 80s of the last century, scientist studied major disease in a grape plant in the condition of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, grounded measure plan against dangerous diseases in grape kinds of mildew and oidium from biological viewpoint, elaborated elements of the integrated control method in combination of different methods. As a result of studies have been found the fungi of species 95 and forms 8, belonging to 2 branches, 5 grades, 12 series, 17 families, 57 genera, in stone fruits. 29 species and forms are new for Azerbaijan mycobiota, while 48 species and forms are new for mycobiota of stone fruits in our country. Currently, scientist’s research object is to pave the way for the purchase of environmentally friendly products by detecting directions and patterns of plant protection in an ecologic agricultural system.

Outputs of scientist’s studies have been reflected in over 142 scientific works, including 4 manuals, 3 methodic aids, and methodic aid on studying Phytopathology, publishing in the republic and in abroad. He supervised 2 PhD theses.

Since 2008 he is a co-chair of Defense Council attached to Azerbaijan Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture, but currently is a deputy chair.
