Today is the birthday of the great thinker
The monument of the distinguished master of words, great Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi in Baku was visited on the occasion of the 584th anniversary of his birth.
Wreaths and bouquets of flowers were laid in front of the monument.
The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, member of the Milli Majlis and Head of the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Interparliamentary Relations, Eldar Ibrahimov, member of the Milli Majlis and member of the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Interparliamentary Relations, Gunay Afandiyeva delivered speeches at the event. They spoke comprehensively about life and works of the prominent figure Alisher Navoi. It was underlined that Azerbaijan is regarded as second homeland of Alisher Navoi. The attendees of the event also mentioned that the extensive research on the works of the distinguished master of words had been conducted in the country by our Navoi scholars, his works had been published, and that the Azerbaijani people read and appreciate the literary legacy of Alisher Navoi.
The successful development of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations in the field of science, just as in all other areas was highlighted at the event. It was said that the ties between the two brotherly nations had made significant contributions to the Turkic world.
Representatives of the scientific and literary communities of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, including Turkologists from the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS also participated in the event.
It should be noted that Alisher Navoi was born on February 9, 1441, in Herat city. His poems were read with great appreciation throughout the Turkic world, both during his time and in later periods.
Famous Turkic poets took him as an example and wrote praises about him. Alisher Navoi holds a significant place in modern works on the history of literature due to his scientific legacy, creativity, devotion to the Turkic world, and influence.
