Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A meeting under the leadership of the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli was held at the Presidium of the Academy.

Members of the Presidium of ANAS, heads of departments of the Presidium Apparatus, scientific secretaries of the divisions, and relevant persons participated in the event.

At the meeting, in connection with the Order of the Head of State “On the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences,” the preparation issues for the 80th anniversary of the Academy was discussed.

The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli made a speech at the meeting. He underlined that within the framework of the President’s Order, a number of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Academy had been held. For the first time in the history of the Academy, a scientific conference on the topic “Traditions of Karabakhname in the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the Modern Period” was held at Karabakh University, jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Education and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. He also reminded that a scientific session was held in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, jointly organized by the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS and Nakhchivan State University.

The head of ANAS emphasized that, for the first time in history, the anniversary events of the National Academy of Sciences were celebrated outside our country at a high level, in Ankara, Türkiye, with the initiative of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and the support of Ankara University, and in Istanbul, at the 2nd Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation member countries.

The head of ANAS also stated that, within the framework of the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences, a number of publications had been prepared, some of which had already been published, while certain publications were at the editorial stage.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli also said that the final anniversary event would be held in autumn, and for this purpose, he gave relevant instructions to the heads of departments of the Presidium administration regarding the organization of the event, the determination and invitation of guests, as well as the publication of books and monographs for this purpose.

Academician-secretary of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov, Heads of departments of the Presidium administration, Doctor of Philology Sarkhan Khaveri, PhD in Biology Esmira Alirzayeva, PhD in Philology Aynur Mahmud, PhD in Philology Asmar Aliyeva, Director of “Elm” Publishing House, PhD in Philology Sabuhi Gahramanov, and others  also made speeches  at the meeting and provided information about the preparatory works for the 80th anniversary of ANAS.

In conclusion, Academician Isa Habibbeyli delivered his relevant recommendations and instructions regarding the high-level celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
