Event on “Ideas of tolerance and multiculturalism in the history of Azerbaijan literary thought” was held at ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan History.

“A glance at artistic sources of Azerbaijan multiculturalism” lecture by chief department of Analytics of Baku International Multiculturalism Nariman Gasimzadeh was delivered in the event. He spoke about the significance of declaring 2016 as “The year of multiculturalism” in the country by President Ilham Aliyev. Notifying deep roots of Azerbaijan multiculturalism, lecturer made speech on ideas of multiculturalism in national literature, especially in literary epic of “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud”, in works by Nizami, Fuzuli, Nasimi and other great figures, grounded his opinions by stats from these works.

It was noted that, Islam, Christianity and other religions are being promoted in epic of “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud”, generally in our literary heritage. Azerbaijan has the oldest and rich culture.

Later on, director of the museum, Academician Naila Valikhanli stated that, having humanist and democratic ideology, the multiculturalism is embodiment of tolerance. Without humanism, culture of higher and international relations, mutual cognition, friendship and collaboration among the people are unavailable. N. Valikhanli recommended the youth closely to get involved in this process.
