As previously reported, at the next meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), a report was heard on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Division of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences (DPMTS) for 2025.
Speaking at the event, ANAS President Academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized that the exhibition reflecting the achievements attained within the Division in 2025 provided a comprehensive and clear picture of the significant projects implemented by the DPMTS, the scientific research carried out, and the major scientific results achieved. He noted that scientists and specialists working within the Division have made important contributions to the development of national science.
The ANAS President stated that one of the key highlights of the Division’s activities over the past year was the increase in the number of books and articles published in Springer and other prestigious international databases, stressing that the progress achieved in this area is of great importance in terms of integration into the international scientific community. He also described the inclusion of the “Azerbaijan Journal of Astronomy” of the Nasreddin Tusi Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory in the Scopus scientometric database as a major achievement of the Division as a whole.
“In 2025, most fundamental and applied research is related to the restoration and development processes underway in the Karabakh region,” Academician Isa Habibbeyli said, emphasizing that the work carried out and innovative projects implemented in this area serve the region’s sustainable development, the restoration of infrastructure, and the establishment of socio-economic processes on a scientific basis.
Highlighting the activities of young researchers within the Division, Academician Isa Habibbeyli described the active involvement of young scientists in the scientific process as a positive development. He noted that the youth policy implemented within the Division is purposeful and systematic, and that significant results have been achieved in training highly qualified professional personnel and integrating them into world science.
The report of the Division was then heard.
