The Number of Articles by ANAS Employees Indexed in Prestigious International Databases Increased in 2025

In 2025, 78 articles authored by employees of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) were published in journals indexed in the “Web of Science” and “Scopus” databases. Compared to 2024, this represents an increase of 19 articles published in 2025.

According to high publication indicators in reputable scientometric databases (“Web of Science” and “Scopus”) for 2025, the Director General of the Republican Seismological Service Center under ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli, ranked first with eight articles. The Director of the Central Scientific Library, Doctor of Technical Sciences Huseyn Huseynov, and the Leading Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, Doctor of Philosophy in History Dmitriy Kirichenko, ranked second with five articles each. The Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature of the Nakhchivan Branch, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology Zulfiya Ismayil, ranked third with four articles.

It should be noted that the Academy’s leadership consistently keeps the publication of articles by Azerbaijani scholars in reputable scientometric databases in focus. Thus, on the initiative of Academician Isa Habibbeyli, a decision was adopted by the Presidium of ANAS on February 22, 2024, on awarding prizes to ANAS employees for articles published in impact factor journals. This decision is an important step toward stimulating scientific activity. At the same time, it establishes the institutional basis for the application of scientometrics, that is, the evaluation of scientific activity based on quantitative indicators derived from specific data sources, as well as for the implementation of scientometric criteria and principles.

Currently, the ANAS Department of Science and Education and the Department of Digital Academy, Artificial Intelligence, and Electronic Services have developed 53 indicators, and surveys based on these 53 indicators have been sent to the Academy’s scientific institutions and organizations. By collecting statistical data, systematic work is being carried out to develop measurable outcomes for the humanities and social sciences.
