Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbeyli, delivered a masterclass titled “Azerbaijani Science: At the Intersection of Humanitarian and Digital Thinking” for the Academy’s doctoral students, dissertation candidates, young scientists, and specialists.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Science and Education of the Presidium Office of ANAS and the Young Scientists Academy of ANAS.

Moderator of the event, Shabnam Mirzazade, a researcher at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS and PhD in Philology, stated that gathering for Academician Isa Habibbeyli’s masterclass today is not merely a lesson, but also an opportunity for exchange of ideas, the formation of new perspectives, and motivation for their future scientific path. She noted that the main goal of the masterclass, organized for the first time at the Academy, is to learn and develop new approaches around this topic together.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli then delivered his lecture on “Azerbaijani Science: At the Intersection of Humanitarian and Digital Thinking.”

In his speech, Academician Isa Habibbeyli addressed the etymology of the name “Azerbaijan,” the activities of Azerbaijani intellectuals from the second half of the 19th century aimed at national awakening and national-spiritual self-awareness, the role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in preserving and developing national identity, the prominent statesman’s policy of Azerbaijanism, his efforts to protect the Azerbaijani language, the Industrial Revolutions and their challenges, the steps taken by President Ilham Aliyev toward building a digital society in the country, the tasks of the humanities and social sciences, and the research conducted at ANAS in recent years.

At the end of the masterclass, Academician Isa Habibbeyli recited the poem “In My Heart” by Mammad Aslan and answered participants’ questions.

Afterward, books were presented to young participants by the Central Scientific Library of ANAS.

A gift was also presented to Academician Isa Habibbeyli on behalf of the Young Scientists Academy, and a commemorative photo was taken.
