Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A commemorative event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Samad Vurgun and the 116th anniversary of Rasul Rza was held at the Rasul Rza House-Museum.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, People’s Writer Anar, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbeyli, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, Director of the Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, Academician Nizami Jafarov, scholars specializing in Vurgun studies, as well as family members of both poets.

Speaking at the event, Museum Director Fidan Rzayeva emphasized the importance of remembering the works of Samad Vurgun and Rasul Rza, revisiting their rich literary legacy, and passing this heritage on to future generations.

The speakers highlighted the irreplaceable role of both poets in Azerbaijani literature, the impact of their творчество on the formation of national and moral values, and also shared their memories of them.

Members of the “Chicheyim” children’s theater of the Children and Youth Development Center No. 3 recited poems by Samad Vurgun and Rasul Rza.

At the end of the event, People’s Artist Tunzala Aghayeva, accompanied by Vurgun Vakilov, performed the songs “Khaverim” and “Alagozlum”.
