Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli—who rendered exceptional services to the development of Azerbaijani culture, dramaturgy, and public thought—a bibliographic index entitled “Academician Uzeyir Hajibeyli” has been published, compiled by the Central Scientific Library of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

The publication covers the life of the outstanding Azerbaijani composer, founder of the national opera, prominent musicologist, scholar, publicist, and educator Uzeyir Hajibeyli, as well as the main stages of his scientific, pedagogical, and public activities. The index includes the composer’s musical works, choral compositions with orchestral and instrumental accompaniment, romances, choreographic miniatures and programs, books, journalistic articles, as well as his stories, feuilletons, and miniatures published in periodicals and collections. It also brings together sources written about him.

The bibliographic index also includes the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the establishment of Uzeyir Music Day, as well as official orders regarding the celebration of the composer’s anniversaries.

According to the relevant decision of the Presidium of ANAS, the bibliographic index was published by “Elm” Publishing House. The scientific advisor and author of the foreword is the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli.

The scientific editor of the publication is the Director of the Central Scientific Library, Doctor of Technical Sciences Huseyn Huseynov. The editors are the Head of the Bibliography Department, PhD in Philology Aytan Aliyeva, and the Head of the Scientific Bibliography Sector, Nargiz Novruzova. The compiler is Chief Bibliographer of the department, Turkan Vahidova.

The bibliographic index is intended for musicologists, scholars and specialists conducting research in this field, university professors and students, as well as a wide readership.
