May 27, the delegation headed by the Vice-President of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Cai Fang visited the Institute of Oriental Studies of ANAS named after Academician Ziya Bunyadov.

The delegation included the head of the Department of International Cooperation CASS Wang Lei, director of the Institute of Economics of CASS Pei Changhong, director of the Institute of Russian, East European and Central Asian Academy Lee Yunsyuan and head of the Department of Europe and Central Asia of the International Cooperation CASS Jing Zhe.

At the meeting, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva spoke about the development of political, economic and scientific relations between Azerbaijan and China, informed the Chinese scientists on research directions, carried out in the institute led by her. G.Bakhshaliyeva noted that, Far East is under investigation at the institute. She brought to the attention that the Department of Asia and Pacific region of the Institute conducted research on the study of some countries in the region, including China. G.Bakhshaliyeva introduced Chinese visitors a booklet with detailed information about the Institute of Oriental Studies in English, as well as the guide prepared by the Institute under the title "People's Republic".

Then head of the Department of Asia and Pacific Region of the Institute, PhD in geography Rafig Abbasov informed about the activities of the department headed by him and brought to the attention that is carried out research on the language, literature, ancient history and modern development of China and other countries in the region. The scientist-sinologist Abbasov also informed the guests with his book "Ilham Aliyev - the modern successor of the ancient friendship of peoples", dedicated to the Chinese-Azerbaijani relations, as well as Chinese language textbook published in our country.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, corresponding member of ANAS, Shahin Mustafayev, speaking of the Silk Road connecting China with Europe, stressed the importance of studying this topic from a scientific point of view, both for China and for Azerbaijan.

CASS Vice President Cai Fang, speaking about the prospects of cooperation between scientific institutions, said that the structure he represents seminars, courses in connection with the economic development and Sinology. He invited Azerbaijani young scientists to participate in these events.

Academician-secretary of the Department of Social Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova  expressed confidence that cooperation between scientific institutions will be fruitful.

At the end of the meeting the Vice-President of CASS Cai Fang handed over a memorable gift to the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies Govhar Bakhshaliyeva.
