Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS continues the hold of international webinars (seminar through Internet).

At the next seminar, fellow of the Eco botany and Taxonomy department of the institute, meanwhile a doctoral student at the Middle East Technical University of Turkey Tural Javadzadeh made a presentation on “DNA barcodes in plants”.

Reporter provided information about DNA barcodes, sequence of some decoded genes in the nucleus and chloroplast DNA of the plants, (trnL intron, trnL-trnF intergenic spacer, ITS), addition of NCBI nucleotide sequences, and application of them to the plant taxonomy. Moreover, setting up a phylogenetic tree in MEGA 6.0 program and importance of the modern taxonomy were underlined.

Topic was extendedly discussed. Director of the institute corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov and corresponding member of ANAS Ilham Shahmuradov were attended the discussions as well.
