Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Institute of Botany of ANAS hosted the event on occasion July 22 - National Press Day.

The ceremony attended the chief of the Department of Public Relations and Science Popularization Zulfuqar Farzaliyev, responsible employees the Central Botanical Garden and Institute of Botany of ANAS, as well as representatives from TV, newspapers and news agencies of the country.

First, ceremony participants laid wreaths and flowers to the bust of Hasanbay Zardabi.

At the event, chairman of the Press Council of Azerbaijan, Milli Majlis deputy Aflatun Amashov congratulated journalists on the Day of National Press and talked about its long and glorious path. It was noted that, in spite of the implementation of its activities under difficult conditions during the past years, the national press has always been a herald and bearer of progressive ideas.

It was brought to the attention that, national leader Heydar Aliyev had great historical merits in the field of liberty of speech, thought and the press in Azerbaijan. Currently, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev is carried out important work in the field of media development, solving its problems and to improve the living conditions of journalists. It was reported that, currently exists about 200 newspapers, about 100 journals, over 50 television and radio, more than 300 web and information companies. During the day, the coefficient of the people addressing mass media makes about 80% of the general population.

Acted, other participants of event noted that, press organs of our country adequately carry out the tasks assigned to them directed to construction of modern society, strengthening of national solidarity and tolerance, development of political culture, promotion and preserving moral values.
