The Azerbaijani scientists continue oil searches in the western regions of the country

The Institute of Geology of ANAS began oil searches in Yevlakh and Mingyachaur areas. As a result of the geological researches conducted in the 40-60th years in the territory of the Adjinour Mountain, this region was estimated as the perspective oil-and-gas area.

At that time in this territory prospecting wells were drilled, but in view of a poor development of scientific technologies searches didn't reach a necessary stage. Now the algorithm and theoretical bases of forecasting of zones of collecting oil and gas a geodynamic method prepare. Works are conducted by department of geodynamics and institute seismology at the expense of the grant allocated with scientific fund of the State Oil Company Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR). Department head, corresponding member of ANAS Fakhraddin Gadirov notes that searches are conducted on the basis of prospecting geodynamics which is a new method of search. Data research methods observed anomalies in the geodynamic processes occurring in the Earth's crust. For detection of anomalies of research will be conducted also in the zones located near the Adjinour ridge, including in Sheki. Search of oil fields will be possible only on the basis of supervision over anomalies. Implementation of the two-year project began in October, 2013.
