Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Head of Nakhchivan Division Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography, head of department of Ancient Period Archeology, corresponding member Veli Bakhshaliyev conducted research in the city of Nakhchivan on October 15, 2016, which proves the settlement in the territory the oldest.

The new settlement discovered on the teretory of city, on right shore of Nakhchivan river refers to early Neolithic period.

Acording to Veli Bakshaliyev founded new ceramic monument samples and tools shows on existence of the Neolithic period.

According to researcher, as a result of future studies, settlement history in the Nakhchivan territory will be possible to relate 8-9 thousand years ago.
