Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

At a meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, which was held on 18 November was discussed the project "Doctrine of development of Azerbaijani science."

In his speech on this issue by President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that one of the main priorities of the state policy is the development of science in the country. Having said that the future of Azerbaijan and its economic, political and military power is directly related to the scientific potential of the republic, academician stressed that the strategy of sustainable development of the country, as well as have arisen in the modern world, the global economic challenges have created a need for the development of Azerbaijan in step with the development of science.

Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that the work done in connection with the execution of the "National Strategy on Science Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2009-2015." And "State Program on the implementation of the National Strategy for the development of science in Azerbaijan Republic in 2009-2015" approved by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, dated May 4, 2009 gave a significant impetus to the development of domestic science as a whole.

Academician Akif Alizadeh reminded of the content and nature of the program bearing the speech of President Ilham Aliyev at the General Meeting, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of ANAS, he talked about the future development of the country and the role of scientists in this progress. Guided by the scientific priorities put forward by President and given instructions and recommendations, General meeting of the Academy adopted a resolution on the preparation of the "Doctrine of the development of Azerbaijani science dated April 29, 2016". In the draft document prepared by the Presidium, provided for the implementation of a package of measures aimed at the preservation and development existing scientific and technological potential, organization and funding of science training highly skilled personnel, the direction of research priorities to address socio-economic problems of the republic and problems of culture and society, integration of science and education, strengthening the legal framework and information support of science, improvement of social provision of scientific personnel.

The academician said that the draft document was widely discussed at the meeting of the National Council for Research Coordination.

After discussions the Presidium has approved the Doctrine of the project. It was decided to submit the project to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for approval.
