Today, Presidium of ANAS held a meeting with the delegation, headed by regional BP company President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gordon Birrell. The main goal is to discuss the prospects of cooperation with BP in the framework of the project "Activities for the development of future applications of science and innovation in Azerbaijan".

Welcoming the guests, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about the importance of the meetings with the representatives of BP in Azerbaijan. He noted that, after the signing of the 1994 "Contract of the Century" company BP has made a significant contribution to the development of Azerbaijani science, achieved many achievements in the country's oil industry: "Today, BP plays a significant role in the training of highly qualified personnel not only in ANAS, but also in overall, the country's universities".

The scientist noted that, in the modern period are created conditions for scientists and specialists of Azerbaijan of joint projects with BP. He expressed confidence that, such a world-famous company as BP in the future will make a significant contribution to the Azerbaijani science and socio-economic development of the country. It was noted that, cooperation between the two institutions will be more effective and intense.

A.Alizadeh, having noted that the issue of studying of gene level of long-livers in the country is the important task set for ANAS, brought to the front necessity to study plan in connection with the BP experience.

The next speaker, Gordon Birrell said that, the leadership of Azerbaijan is constantly supporting activities of BP. Noting that, the company he represents has a great contribution to the development of education, culture, sport and agriculture in Azerbaijan, the guest said that in 2017 celebrates 25 years of BP activities in our country.

G.Birrell said that, BP is currently investing major investments in projects related to the Caspian Sea. He noted that, one of the biggest "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" projects have been carried out numerous drilling and exploration. He brought to the attention that, the second major project, which had invested heavily is the "Shah Deniz-2".

Organizations will cooperate in the field of technology transfer and implementation of innovation projects in the agricultural sector, to exchange experience in the field of development and improvement of advanced technologies and techniques.

In this regard, ANAS President, Academician Akif Alizadeh and BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gordon Birrell signed a document.

The parties came to the agreement on application of the achievements received at ANAS in various scientific fields, and to develop innovative new features in the areas involved in the project, which is operated by BP's, education of business entities and assist in the development of their activities.

In conclusion, to the guests were donated atlas of mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan and the Jubilee Medal of ANAS.
