The main purpose of ANAS Lankaran Regional Scientific Center (LSRSC) is a further development of the scientific and technical potential of the southern region, promoting its achievements, carrying out research works of fundamental and innovative nature aimed at achieving new knowledge that serve socio-economic development of the region, and as the study of regional history, culture, customs and traditions.

Today, one of the leading ANAS institutions is created by the decision of ANAS Presidium dated 21 September 2005 Lankaran RRC, which is headed by Doctor of Agricultural sciences, Professor Farman Guliyev since 2015.

The center carries out comprehensive measures in the direction of expansion and development of interdisciplinary research projects, as well as the organization of scientific and technical cooperation with universities Lankaran - Lankaran State University, Lankaran branch of the Tea Research Institute of fruit and tea growing Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Lankaran zonal experimental station of the research Institute of Horticulture of Azerbaijan, as well as with other research institutions in the country.

The program of further activity of Lankaran RRC planned study of all potential opportunities for the revival and development of tea growing in Lankaran-Astara region, as well as the preparation and implementation of a broad program of activities.

One of the priorities RRC is the concentration in a single center and varietal diversity of cultivated species of subtropical fruits and industrial plants, the introduction of other neighboring sub-tropical areas, as well as the study, selection, application, in other words, creating a genetic bank of these plants.

For this purpose for joint research projects relevant agreement and signed a cooperation agreement has been reached on the basis of the Lankaran branch of the tea tea growing fruit and Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan.

According to the agreement, in the research paper on "Collecting of teas, their introduction into the environment of Lankaran-Astara region, study, selection of the most valuable and new varieties of tea" held under the supervision of Professor Farman Guliyev, were collected over 40 and teas.

As a result of research work carried out on different varieties of tea, created by classical methods and method selection in Lankaran branch of Tea Research Institute of fruit and tea growing in Azerbaijan under the supervision of Professor Farman Guliyev, in 2015 the State varietal controls have been adopted 3 form of clones and in 2016 a form of clone. The development of these varieties in the future will allow the development of tea-growing in the country.
