Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On March 22, photosynthesis of biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology in the prominent scientist, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Novruz Mahammad oglu Guliyev corresponding member is 65 years old.

Novruz Guliyev was born on March 22, 1952 in the village of Amirvarlı, Jabrayil region. In 1969 he finished secondary school in the village of Soltanli and entered the chemistry faculty of Azerbaijan State University. After graduating from the University, was assigned to the Institute of Agriculture under Ministry of Cropping of the Azerbaijan Republic and worked as a junior researcher in the laboratory headed by Academician Jalal Aliyev.

Then he was sent to the Institute of Biochemistry after A.N.Bakh in Moscow, on the initiative of the Academician Jalal Aliyev for a postgraduate education. In 1978 he defended PhD degree here on topic “Cyclic AMP and enzyme her change in phototropic bacteria”.

Successfully continuing his activity at the Plant physiology laboratory of the Institute of Cropping, N.Guliyev worked as a researcher, leading researcher and senior researcher at the laboratory organized by Academician Jalal Aliyev.

For the first time he has revealed an existence of universal regulatory system of cyclic AMP and report primary thoughts on the system in phototropic bacteria; for the first time obtained crystals of plant carbonic anhydrase; study in detail its structural-functional organization and propose molecular model of quarternary structure of the enzyme; development of the role of photosynthetic enzymes on adaptation and production processes in plants.

N.Guliyev is an author of more than 170 scientific works, including a monograph in the prestigious Moscow journal “Nauka”. His academic works have been submitted to the numerous international congress, conference and symposium, and published on the journals of impact factor. His works were cited many times.

N.Guliyev has supervised a doctor of sciences and 8 PhDs.

Scientist has been a member of the Academic Council of the Institute of Botany and a member of Defense Council under institute, a bureau member of Academic Council of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, including Division of Medical and Biological Sciences.

He was elected to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1995-2005.

N.Guliyev was awarded the Order of Honor of ANAS in the field of scientific-pedagogical activity in 2012.
