Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Within the framework of the program "We Learn Our Country", pupils who arrived in Baku from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic visited ANAS Institute of Dendrology.

Students were informed that this territory located in the Mardakan settlement in 1895-1920 was a private garden of the patron and oil millionaire Murtuza Mukhtarov. It was reported that, building was designed in a "Gothic" style in the shape of a ship. The width of the walls is 1 meter and the height is 8 meters. The veranda of the buildings on all sides resembles the cabin of the ship.

It was noted that, total garden area of the Institute of Dendrology is 12 hectares. According to the number and age of the flora growing here, the Mardakan arboretum is at the level of the richest collections in the world.
