Center of Seismological Service is the main organization engaged in research and study of earthquakes in Nakhchivan

The Center of Seismological Service, operating at the Institute of Natural Resources of the Nakhchivan Department of ANAS is the main organization engaged in research and study of earthquakes in the Autonomous Republic. The main task of the center is to register and analyze seismological changes occurring in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Despite the establishment of the center in 2004 at the Institute of Natural Resources due to the lack of equipment meeting modern requirements, the analysis of records of registered earthquakes and the determination of kinematic and dynamic parameters were not sufficiently studied.

But last year, under the direction of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis, the Center was equipped with the necessary modern equipment and software. Modern instruments and equipment produced by the company "Kinemetriks" USA were installed in 4 telemetric seismic stations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (in Heydarabad, Shahbuz, Babak and Ordubad). Thanks to these instruments, local, distant and near earthquakes are processed at the Center of the Seismological Service, and the parameters of the earthquake foci are determined.

Note that the process of earthquake processing, creation and archiving of the information base is carried out by means of modern computers operating on the basis of the operating system "MAC OS-11.8", which is the latest version of the operating system produced by Apple.

In the Center of Seismological Service, a storage device "Pegasus 2 R8" with a memory capacity of 24 TB is installed to collect and store information. This device allows you to save information for 100 years.

In the future, it is planned to take appropriate measures to increase the level of the seismological service, while at the same time carrying out new research in the center.
