Azerbaijani scientist-orientalist’s book published in Russia

A book was published by Deputy Director for scientific work of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Z.M. Bunyadov, corresponding member of ANAS Shahin Mustafayev "From Seljuks to Ottomans" in Moscow in Russian.

The book explores the processes of formation and development of the Turkish ethno-cultural environment against the background of political and social events taking place in Anatolia in the XI-XV centuries. The work is written on the basis of many medieval sources. The author used information from chronicles written in Turkish and Persian languages, chronicles of Byzantine historians, diaries of European travelers, as well as other documents of historical and literary character.

The author, analyzing the research works of Azerbaijani, Turkish, Russian and Eastern scholars, put in the book a number of important conceptual provisions and questions concerning medieval Anatolian and Azerbaijani history.

The book was approved for publication by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the International Institute for Central Asian Studies. The scientific editor of the monograph is the well-known Russian Turkic historian S.Oreshkov, the reviewers are Academician M. Meier and Academician Naila Velikhanli.

The new edition is intended for specialists dealing with the history of the middle Ages, students studying in the field of oriental studies, as well as a wide range of readers interested in the history of Turkey and Azerbaijan.
